Every year, more and more students in early childhood schools are learning two or more languages. Teachers often feel unprepared to help these students learn and overcome language barriers. This book has a lot of useful tips for helping kids and families from different backgrounds. It also has methods for making sure that young people who learn two languages do well in school and with their friends.

Early childhood educators will find this book very helpful because it has 45 useful, developmentally appropriate methods for teaching children who speak more than one language, including Spanish speakers and children who speak other languages. Real-life examples show teachers how to use each approach in their own classrooms, and the Spanish-language activities, reflection questions, and tools will help teachers improve the way they teach now. This timely book is a much-needed resource for professional development for teachers who are already working and for teachers who are just starting out. It will help teachers make early childhood classrooms more welcoming and help dual language learners avoid performance gaps.
